چکیده

TsinghuAeolus is the champion team for the latest two RoboCup simulation league competitions. While our binary and nearly full source code for RoboCup 2001 had been publicly available for the entire year, we won the champion again in Fukuka, with more obvious advantage. This paper describes the key innovations that bring this improvement. They include an advice-taking mechanism which aims to improve agents’ adaptability, a compact and effective option scoring policy which is crucial in the option-evaluation framework, and thorough analysis of interception problem which leads to more intelligent interception skill. Although not strongly interrelated, these innovations come together to form a set of solutions for problems across different levels.

A Two-Phase Mechanism for Agent's Action Selection in Soccer Simulation

Soccer simulation is an effort to motivate researchers and practitioners to do artificial and robotic intelligence research; and at the same time put into practice and test the results. Many researchers and practitioners throughout the world are continuously working to polish their ideas and improve their implemented systems. At the same time, new groups are forming and they bring bright new th...

The World Champions in Robotic Soccer

Robotic soccer is a challenging research domain that can be used to explore new problems and to demonstrate new techniques. We participated in RoboCup'98 in order to explore the problems of cooperation in multi-robot-systems and to demonstrate our self-localization techniques based on laser range nders. In this paper we sketch the main technical points of our team, give a description of the pro...

The CS Freiburg Team: Playing Robotic Soccer Based on an Explicit World Model

techniques and explore new problems. Moreover, problems and solutions can easily be communicated because soccer is a well-known game. Our intention in building a robotic soccer team and participating in RoboCup-98 was, first, to demonstrate the usefulness of the self-localization methods we have developed. Second, we wanted to show that playing soccer based on an explicit world model is much mo...

Soccer Goalkeeper Task Modeling and Analysis by Petri Nets

In a robotic soccer team, goalkeeper is an important challenging role, which has different characteristics from the other teammates. This paper proposes a new learning-based behavior model for a soccer goalkeeper robot by using Petri nets. The model focuses on modeling and analyzing, both qualitatively and quantitatively, for the goalkeeper role so that we have a model-based knowledge of the ta...

Selecting Heterogeneous Team Players by Case-Based Reasoning: A Case Study in Robotic Soccer Simulation

It is a vital behaviour pattern of humans, the most highly developed autonomous agents, to make use of experiences accumulated in the past and to solve new problems in analogy to solutions of old, yet similar problems. This report gives an outline of our work to apply that case-based approach to an arti cial agent in the domain of Robotic Soccer simulation. We enable the online coach of a robot...
